In my mind lately I have had long periods of time not feeling well in my body and spirit. ALS has plateaus and valleys. There are no longer any peaks. You know, students, growing stronger physically. If you are blessed with time, you can adapt with technology, Thanks be to God. I recently went on a family vacation with my kids and Grands. I had recently been having some trouble with kidneys and gastrointestinal woes. We handled the bladder stones and UTI. Next up, paralytic ileum, frozen part in the small intestine. No fun. You blow up and you look like Humpty Dumpty. Not so great for your self-esteem. So you get it. ALS STINKS! First night on vacay, yep back row, poop attack but my village cheers. YAY! Mom aka Gram aka Sal has movements in the bowels which means I will survive to rock and ROLL another day! God is in the middle of my life, my ALS storm. I trust the God who loves this speck of dirt, on a big rock, in space, me! He has blessed me with a village, friends, the amazing trio or my kids, the best Hospice team who keep cheering me on (we are shooting for 8 more years so I will be living with ALS 22 years!), my God serving sitter who prays over me every day, and continued support of prayers unceasingly. Oh, God gave me an amazing furry companion, Hugo, who warms my feet and heart at bedtime every night. Students, if you can’t tell the best gift this 57th trip around the sun is the Gift of the Holy Spirit, HS! It’s back and giving me the BOOST I need to roll on with Trust in the 3 whos and the big WHAT; we specks of dirt we call God!
