Embrace the Gift

In my mind this past week, I have been busy. Monday was our Bible Study Christmas get together sharing time and conversation and prayers. This little group has been gathering together for at least four years, possibly longer. We’ve lost a few and added a few but we are still studying Emmanuel and searching to know Him better. Tuesday was a Christmas concert and I shared my book. I am so thankful for the support of my first book. God is the reason I write. Wednesday through Friday I went to work with my daughter who works at church. I’m the kid now. No more Home Alone. Just like the third week of Advent, I was rejoicing with our Savior. Celebrating the anniversary of God, our  Creator, beginning the divine plan of Salvation for us with a baby born in a manger.

This week of Advent is LOVE. I have been receiving a lot of love. I have been watching my Christmas card string over the fireplace fill up with Good Tidings. Three Oaks Baptist left a beautiful LOVE basket in my garage. Homemade candy and bread from friends are full of LOVE. A beautiful friend sent me a poinsettia and she does every year. God’s LOVE has been all around. Have you taken the time to see or feel it? Do you hear what I hear? Today on the way home my daughter and I stopped by a few stores to grab a few last things for Christmas. When she got back to the van, she was telling me how angry the people in line were. Just plain hateful to the poor employees is how she said it. Where is the good will? It took me back to Whoville. Everyone is rushing and competing when the most important thing is holding hands with those you love. Singing those Christmas songs and bringing more of God’s LOVE into this world. Is it the end of the world if there are no presents? The gift was delivered long ago. Emmanuel. Embrace the BEST gift ever given.

Quote of the Day

John 21:18

“Amen, amen, I say to you, when you were younger, you used to dress yourself and go where you wanted; but when you grow old, you will stretch out your hands, and someone else will dress you and lead you where you do not want to go.”
